What Is the Procedure?
Cytoreductive surgery is an advanced surgical procedure aimed at removing all visible tumor deposits from the surface of organs and the peritoneum within the abdominal cavity. This may include removing portions of the peritoneum itself (peritonectomy) and, at times, portions of neighboring organs affected by the tumor.
This surgery is often performed together with Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) in carefully selected cases.
